Don’t you hate it when you’re trying to sound like Elton John and it turns into the Cure? Then as you embrace the Cure-ness, Robert Smith dons a cowboy hat and jumps on a mechanical bull. It could be worse. I suppose I’d be more disappointed if the reverse happened, and my C&W Cure song turned into Elton John.
lyrics
I kiss the scream in your mouth. Slide over the grief til it drowns. Walk closer to me, we’ll get lost. Die along with the leaves in the frost. We all know just how low. It takes everything to get back to nothing. Hold my soul, make it whole. Can you jiggle it and get it to function? How are we supposed to be moving out when the only place that feels real is the doubt? It’s funny once, but oh how we cried. The conflicts were all interrelated. But how can I trust what’s on my own mind when everything has been infiltrated? Now I can’t speak for everyone, but people die for less, so it shouldn’t be that bad. And I don’t even know whether I am coming or whether I am going. The crew is on it’s way. They brought a rudder. They got it covered. But you, you know what a rudder is, and what they’re selling just ain’t gelling. I try to remind you of the diamonds hiding under the weeds in the garden. There’s smoke in the sky but you don’t want it to show less than a couple thousand mornings to go. It’s formless and drab, a woe to behold, but it’s better than you get going solo.

No words to describe this. I believe if you like Spirit of the Beehive, you will like this band. Other highlights are Plants, And Again and Pretty Sure. So much good music out there. JerPz

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
