So you know a "red letter day" is supposed to be a really good one. I don't know why. Red letters usually mean you did something wrong. This song got writ on a "gray letter day" where you'd otherwise feel 100% fantastic but in this case you have to feel guilty for your sadistic pleasure.
lyrics
Black magic- Even though we know we're bewitched. Bad habits- Why you gotta be so hard to ditch? Dark matter- How can I get rid of this stuff? Where's all my takers? Have you suddenly taken enough? Gimme that! I don't even know what it is but I want it! But today I feel great. See how long that it lasts. Get packing before they can bore us to death. Act casual. Maybe no one will notice we left. Hey where'd those guys go? And for once in a long time I feel I know what to do. Now the joke is in their court, until I get it too. And then nobody will be laughing. Grim Reaper will... Classic matchup. Same one we've been touting for years. Thought we could catch em, but it don't look like it matters who wins. I'd be glad to if we could simply just vote it away, but Count Dracula, he don't always wanna stay in his grave. I got a stake. Bleah! I vant to suck your blood! But today- I feel great! And I ain't sorry about your fate. I know that dagger stabs both ways.

No words to describe this. I believe if you like Spirit of the Beehive, you will like this band. Other highlights are Plants, And Again and Pretty Sure. So much good music out there. JerPz

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
